Anyone have any suggestions on cleaning up the bottom of this radiator convection box, such as steel wool, solvent etc. Paint may be latex or oil based but it came with the house 20 years ago and I just noticed it. Live and learn. Any suggestions as well concerning making the space more decorative by painting etc. One thing that all home buyers and inspectors looking at houses with these type of radiators should be aware of is negotiate a good cleaning of the fins and radiators maybe with compressed air and a clean sheet metal box behind the grill and underneath and behind the tubed fins. I am going to go out on a limb here and also negotiate having years of paint stripped from the grill and exterior box. Live and Learn!

If you really wan't a good job find a restoration company that does sand blasting. Then you could paint or have an auto body shop spray paint them.0
