Who actually makes the heat exchangers?

As I've been looking at a lot of mod-con boilers, I noticed that the heat exchangers in a lot of brands look identical. I know manufacturers like Viessmann make their own HX, but do other brands such as Lochinvar and others also make their own HX, or do they just buy them from another manufacturer who specializes in HXs and then sells them to different brands?

Yes there are only a few boiler manufacturers that actually produce there own heat exchangers. Most purchase them from heat exchanger manufacturer. The most robust and beefy modcon heat exchanger I’ve come across is the one Energy Kinetics Accel CS which they manufacture themselves in New Jersey.

This company supplies many of the boiler manufacturers with heat exchangers, over 20 million so far.

Thank you Bob! I think the ones I saw that I thought looked identical to each other were from Sermeta.hot_rod said:This company supplies many of the boiler manufacturers with heat exchangers, over 20 million so far.

The older Lochinvar water tube HX look just like those from Sermeta. The fire tubes look just like Navien. Is Navien making fire tubes for Lochinvar now?0

Many of the fire tube were Kiturami, from Korea. All the brands are constantly sourcing from around the world, some building their own.Shahrdad said:The older Lochinvar water tube HX look just like those from Sermeta.
