Quick and to the point on this post. I had a leak from a main air vent, said to myself this shouldn’t be
Hard. I unthreaded the vent, It was full of water. I followed the line, there’s a shut off, then strainer then steam trap. The strainer was clogged solid. Does that mean the crap made it to the steam trap or does the strainer catch it all before it gets to the trap.
FYI, I just fired the steam up. It wasn’t working for two years. Today was 2 Nd day at this job.

The strainer is there to protect the trap. If the strainer was really plugged solid that is likely the reason the line had water in it.

As far as the trap goes it should be ok but who knows...try it and see
