PEX Pipe and Tubing Freeze-Break Resistance and Benefits Addressed in New Technical Report

The Plastics Pipe Institute, Inc. (PPI), has published a new Technical Report related to the break resistance of PEX pipe and tubing when fluid inside becomes frozen. PPI is the major trade association representing the plastic pipe industry.

I have had 2 different conditions where pex was compromised by freezing,
the first was a in a commercial building where pex passed through a drilled girder in what was in effect a wind tunnel, the pex froze, expanded and was cut by the steel.
the other is in fact 2 freezes fairly close together where the ice moved towards the unfrozen middle, where it blew. Both uncommon but it happens0
