Vent Rite #1 can be totally shut off acccording to Gill/Pajek report. I don't know how true it is in practice.0

There is a point at which more venting capacity has no effect. It becomes like an open pipe.
@dabrakeman Do you know how much difference there would be if you had only 1 Gorton#2 on line? That's what I ended up with for my similar main.0 -
In a moment of insanity, I calculated the pressure to lift a ping pong ball sitting on top of a NoM vent orifice. See the chart and calculations. If nothing else, it gives a perspective on weight vs. pressure for different openings.

I will have to add that to my to do list since I originally added the second Gorton 6 years ago back when my vents were located back at the boiler instead of end of mains, and there were other circumstances confounding. What I do know right now is that with a cold system and cold pipes the time from steam getting to my header to the end of the main is less than 2 minutes.0 -
