Quick Question about Steam radiator vent

Hey guys so I recently changed a radiator vent that was letting steam spit out. Week later the vent started doing the same thing. One thing I did notice was that on the radiator valve the packing nut was loose. Then I went to another job the same day and it was another bad vent and saw a loose packing nut. I know the whole point of the air vent is to purge all the air out. My question is if the packing nut is loose on the radiator valve will that cause more air to get inside the radiator? And if that the case would that mean the radiator vent is double working?

When the system turns off for any length of time it completely fills with air, regardless of where it’s coming in. Loose packing nuts are a red herring here.
Either bad vents out of the box, cheap vents that won’t hold up, or system pressures running way too high destroying the vents quickly.1
