Embassy Onex Combi boiler rumbling when firing up

Options
Embasy Onex combi boiler about 8 yrs old. Tuned up about 3 months ago. Running fine. About 6 days ago it started making a rumbling noise and running very rough. now it started not firing up and goes into L01 mode. I reset set it and fires up but very rough. Flame is jumpy not steady. The same noise was happening right before i changed the ignitors for the tune up. Any suggestions

Is this Natural Gas or LP?
Was there a combustion test done when the unit was "tuned up"?
Did you change the igniters or Did a service tech do so?

A frequent cause of rough running sounds in a combi boiler is exhaust being sucked into the combustion air pipe.

And that boiler has a concentric vent that can corrode.

This is a natural gas boiler. The tune up was done by a service tech and the vent was also changed at that time due to corroding. There was no combustion test at the time it was tuned up. The boiler was working great for about 3 months after the tune up. The rumbling started about 6 days ago. What can cause exhaust to be sucked into the combustion air pipe? Can high winds create this problem?

Thanks for the info and responses.

Also vent location can create this issue. If it in an alcove the wind can create an eddie that will re-circ the gasses.
There REALLY should have been a combustion test done.
Was the boiler pulled apart scrubbed and cleaned out?

Yes. The boiler was taken apart scrubbed and cleaned. The vent is in the back of the house, not in an alcove.

    Hi Team,

I have an embassy Onex 160 Condensing boiler. I am getting an L 01 code.  The boiler goes through it auto startups and shuts down after. Im getting flame in the burner and my PSI is between 15 and 19. After many trouble shooting repairs, expansion tank, relief valve,
etc. It still will not start, any suggestions would be a great help.

    Thank You,
    Robert S.

    You have a combustion issue.
The expansion tank and relief valve have no bearing on that.

When was the last time the boiler was pulled a part and the combustion chamber cleaned out?
The igniters and flame rod should be cleaned and if damaged replaced.

So I see that you swapped out igniters. Great. Thats a start.
Did you pull apart the combustion chamber and check what the inside of the combustion chamber looks like?
The refractory around the burner may have broken...
The condensate trap may have clogged and has filled the chamber w/ water...
