Are column type radiators more efficient than tube style radiators, and should I take that in to account when sizing a new boiler? I need to replace two boilers that are connected to tube style radiators.

    No. If this is a steam system, just use whatever chart applies to the radiators you're working with. If hot-water, size to the building's heat loss.
