A Song for Christmas

This was her gift to him – the very best she could do and the wind picked up the notes from her toy violin and blew them into the cold, white air, like a flock of sparrows exploding from a bare maple tree.

I can't tell you how many times I've been honked at staring at the birds on a cold winter day as the swoop up down and across when I'm at a stop light. Beautiful story Dan.

I have no idea why I read this right now, but a week ago I lost another friend to Covid. He was only in his late 60's. But he leaves behind a son with Down Syndrome. I am still in shock, and truly having a hard time processing it. More so what is going to happen to his son. They were inseparable, and there are no words that can express the hurt and the worries in my heart. The knot in my stomach that I get trying to fall asleep. Then I read this, and realize God takes care of all of us in his own way. Life goes on like it has, for all my buddies Spouses and Children. Who lost their lives in war and on 911. While those of us still here live with the hurt and memories. But life will go on, and then I realize we are blessed.

    Merry Christmas
Never forget 09-11-01 FDNY/EMS/NYPD/PAPD/PENTAGON and those still dying.

Still one the most moving stories I’ve encountered. Thank you Dan.
