Zone Heating Issue

Hello!! I have recently moved into a new home and have no idea how to control my zone heating. I have my zone heating shut off right now because when I turn on the basement heating it will continue to heat until it reaches the temperature I have set on the thermostat however by doing this it also constantly heats my main floor as well. Is there a reason this is happening? Is there a way to have the basement heat turn on but not affect the rest of the house?
Thank you so much!

There's probably a zone valve or check valve that's stuck open. Do you know someone that can service your system? Where are you located?8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

Hi Alan,
I was hoping it would be an easy fix that I could do myself. But I guess I'll have to get someone to come fix it.
