i have a complex installation approx 14 years old that is a combination of indoor in floor heat as well as garage slab and snow melt. every PEX run has these. they appear to me to be either a vacuum break or check valve assembly.
what are they and whats there purpose?

several PEX runs that feed the snow melt and other outdoor circuits have leaked over the years so a lot of water/glycol solution was been repeatedly been added. now some of the runs are starting to restrict or just plain plug up.
sorry i for got to get a better shot of the Wirsbo manifolds let alone the boiler room.

it is a clamp that clips into the grove and reads flow on meter screen0
