Tekmar 087 Wireless sensor as an indoor sensor

Anyone familiar with these? How accurate are they supposed to be? I read that people were using these as indoor wireless sensors to go with their Tekmar 279s. I loved that idea as I have a prohibitively long run to the last apartments to receive heat. I just switched from a Heat Timer EPU that stopped working to the Tekmar yesterday so I'm still fine-tuning it.
My issue is that the temperature reading seems to be off by 3 degrees at idle. A digital thermometer will read 67.2 and the 087 right next to it reports 64. I've compensated by lowering the goal temps 3 degrees, but I'm wondering if this is normal(could the sensor be faulty?) and if simply lowering the goal temps works.
