    It depends on the appliance.
What is the make and model?
They did have some serious issue w/ that plastic venting. I am 99.9% sure it had a recall.

It had a recall years ago. SS piping was furnished and labor paid to replace it.
I did my own boiler maybe 15 years ago.
The recall ship may have sailed by now.

For a furnace, the Corrective Action Program (CAP) offered at no charge to the consumer a power vent and B-vent.  For a boiler there was AL-29 stainless steel vent pipe.   You are describing a furnace, that means your heater is connected to duct-work.  If your heater is connected to pipes with water in them you have a boiler.

The CAP is long gone and your vent pipe is well past its useful life. The replacement vent design could cost you up to 1/2 of the cost of replacing the furnace.   If you have a boiler then the Stainless steel  vent is still a good option if the rest of the boiler components are sound.

This is the most recent consumer product safety commission CPSC bulletin in the vent pipe you have

Z-Flex still offers the stainless that was used as a replacement. I think if the product is certified to the Class of venting the appliance required you are covered.

Probably no one wants to make a recommendation for liability concerns.

The "starter " piece that connect may be the hard to source part.

I suspect the Polypro products may work also, a bit more user friendly to install.
