Crown 175,000 steam boiler

One question , I went to a house that had 175,000 btu steam crown boiler. Is the minimum piping 2 inch or 2 1/2

    I don't know what size it needs didn't look it up but 2" won't cut it.

    need more information. Are you talking the header or the distribution piping?

    If it's this one:

    the manual says a 2" header is enough. Personally I would go to 2-1/2".

    I helped the guy pipe it up, he bought it from Johnston, the contractor was more of an hvac guy the a boiler guy. He also bought the speed kit from Johnston. So I piped it up for him, no big deal for me but I did two risers and he had three take offs so I did a little different fro speed kit but keeper it close.
    So the next question would be what do you guys think of these speed kits.

    They make it easier to do the job right- but they're not foolproof.
