I have a couple of quotes for oil-fired boilers and these two brands are quoted. Neither appear in the top 10 list of "must-have" boilers. Anyone share any wisdom on these boilers please?

They're both vertical tube, dry base steel boilers. The bottom of the list.

Thanks for the comments. It is a traditional oil-fired system for heating the water and also baseboard heating using water not air.0

EFM is a triple pass unit that he quoted. They have sold Energy Kinetics for years but apparently EFL are reliable, local and a larger company. Apparently again, and I know nothing on this subject, if things go wrong on the Energy Kinetics they are big bucks to replace. Could be sales talk, could be experience.

Thank you for your question, @Noviceatthis , and for the kind words about our products from @STEVEusaPA , @Robert_25 .
Energy Kinetics maximizes available “off the shelf” components to provide years of reliable operation, and for the few items that are not, we have a deep inventory of readily available parts to service equipment dating back to 1979. Our Energy Manager Control also has a lifetime protection plan so you won’t be over a barrel for the parts that are not industry standard – the manager and relay board even easily bypassed for emergency heat.
I appreciate your comment on "sales talk", and to see for yourself, you can find more about parts and support here and in other HeatingHelp posts.
We welcome the opportunity to answer your and your heating professionals questions so we can clear up any uncertainty.

I don't think I've ever not had what I needed on the truck for an EK- 1 or 2 Frontier oil repair. Even if the Manager is faulty, a tweak to the return water temp sensor, lower the high limit, and done. I've not done it more than 4 times in 20 years.
Nothing against a good 3 pass either. Is the EFM low mass? Did they offer Outdoor Reset?0 -
I’d go with an EK boiler every day of the week.2
