Honeywell Agastat

I am replacing my L8148A Agastat with a newer L8148A-1017 as recommended by Honeywell.
Transferring of the wires from old to new looks to be very simple since all of the terminals are the same. Unfortunately, when I loosened the screw that holds on the unit to see if it would pop off (before removing the wires), it didn’t come off like the YouTube videos showed. In fact, it didn’t come off and it has resistance and since is the capillary tube is in the well, I decided to not tug on it for I don’t want it to break in the well.
Maybe it is a function that I did not
Remove the wires and spin the unit box 180 degrees or maybe the conductive lotion has hardened, but any insight to removing the box or other actions, would be appreciated.

The entire unit should come off the well by loosening the nut on the bottom of the control, then lift up slightly and pull forward. The only tricky part is not getting the silver heat transfer goo all over you.0

Sometimes you need to give the screw a little smack. If you're using a 1/4" nut driver, smack the driver end with the heel of your hand.0

You need to pull the sensor bulb from the well-adaptor. If the cap tube breaks off, then you will need to drain the boiler to replace the well-adaptor.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?
