Can you take the nipple out and replace with a longer on, or are you looking for a slip on?

Wolverine brass should have what you need

That is a common universal tub spout size. Wolverine used to make nice brass stuff, looks like plastic or die cast is more common these days.

  • Kohler makes nice tub spouts. The K-6855 is 1/2", but maybe they have one in 3/4". Solid brass - it weighs 2 lbs.!

Is there something wrong with it or do they just want something different?

80% of the water was going out the tub spout.

I spun a new on on today, only some drips now, most all of the water is going through the shower

That’s what I was getting at.
Had the same problem at one of my investment properties. Complaint was running out of how water with a 5 minute shower. When showering it looked like it was full flow out the spout too. Luckily I was able to just replace the washer attached to the diverter stem.
    How’s the water quality?

I see a ton of plastic in that picture. How is that "solid brass"?

Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

Try holding one in your hand sometime. No pot metal or chrome plated plastic. Plastic only for parts that wear and need replacement (aerator, diverter spring).

You will always get a dribble of water out of a diverter spout when showering. It's designed to do so to empty the column of water in the shower riser, reducing the pressure on the diverter
and eventually allowing it to drop down into its non-diverting position. That way, you don't get a head full of water the next time you use it.

Steve it’s municipal water so it’s good enough. People are happy now.
