Trane In Wall Invisible Radiators

Hi, I live in a house built in 1920 and I have a trane in wall invisible radiators through out my house. Every plumber who has been in the house has never seen "such a system". I like the idea of not seeing the radiator but the grill/vent where the hot air flows out is 6 feet up the wall. A few of these vents are 4 feet long. It makes it impossible to hang a painting. I'd like to be able to turn off one of these radiators in the living room , remove the grill and cover it so I can hang a painting. Can I do this? Thanks!
