    Question for the Heating Contractors: Do you do the chimney relining in cases like these, or suggest other vendors to the home-owner?

    I personally avoided the issue by moving to a direct vent out the side of the house and moved the hot water boiler to the outer wall to free up the middle of the basement (and installed a modulating condensing boiler). This is a steam boiler so I doubt that option even exists.

    Personally, we never touch the chimney. I have a chimney guy (small company) that does excellent work and is squeaky honest. Been using him for years.
