Thermostat calls for heat. Oil furnace will not go on till I tap the Honeywell's intermittent box. Then furnace is working Stays on till set temp is reached. Next time there is a call for heat it may or may not kick on till I go back downstairs to box that has ff ,tt terminals. Tapping the box gets furnace going again Never locks outside. Should I replace or clean contacts inside box? Thanks inadvance

Are the wires and terminal tight ? Replace the primary control . Metal cover with plastic red button attached to the cover ? With that condition a small soldered in screw falls out holding the clapper to the board normally falls out with vibration .. Since it's a safety control just replace it .
I have enough experience to know , that I dont know it all

What brand and model (primary) box?
    Pics?

Is it TT and FF only or is there a terminal block with R,W,C,G,Y?

In either case, it seems like faulty contacts. The "tap" just helps them close.

    C'mon @HVACNUT, it's a Honeywell Oil Intermittent Box...lol
If someone is calling it that, they shouldn't be touching (or tapping, kicking hitting, throwing voodoo signs at) it, right?

Probably an R8184G which IIRC no longer meets Code. @Joehawthorn , you need a pro on this. Where are you located?
