Do I drain the boiler or leave it full of water when not in use for the next six months?

I have two big boilers. Essentially the same things you might find in a big residence but really big. At the end of the heating season I fill them up to the very top and fire them up to boiling to remove the O2 and close the king valves.

Its called a wet lay up. Keep water in them till the next heating season.

And don’t forget to drain it down to normal level on the gauge glass when you fire up in the fall!

Thanks for the information. Last season I added 8-way boiler water treatment to the boiler. What are the thoughts on additives for rust and corrosion control?

Ive used them commercially with very good results. Just be very good about following the manufacturers suggestions.
