Boiler stops firing before water reaches set temp

This is a new hot water boiler with hot water baseboards. Water temp is set to 200 degrees.

On mild days, the boiler will fire up and keep flaming until the water temp hits the set 200 degrees. Then the flames shut off and the water circulates.

On cold days when the boiler needs to run for longer, the boiler will fire up but stop flaming when the water is only 130-170 degrees, then circulates this cooler water.

HELP PLEASE. Thank you!

What type of aquastat do you have? Do you have any other controls?
Does your boiler have a tankless coil? Does the aquastat have a low limit setting?

  • What does the installer say about this?
    What make of boiler?
Has it been piped according to the diagrams, and instructions in the installation manual? 200 degrees seems higher than needed.
    Pictures might help.—NBC

SuperTech-- Those questions are over my head. I'll have to ask a professional.

Nicholas-- Haven't asked the tech yet. Boiler is Crown. Piped correctly.

Need the model number of the boiler and aquastat (where you set the temperature).
    Oil or gas?
