Gonna be replacing this system and I have installed 3 way mixing valves but never a 4 way. Im trying to figure out this layout. Is it fair to say the supply and return is the primary and the other side of the mixing would be secondary? also it looks to be the radiant pump is returning into the mixing valve.Diagrams ive looked up show that the top should be the output.
I want to move my system pump on the supply and also with the radiant as well.

Are you going to add the actuator and a control? You really need to motorize it to make it work

I was not planing to upgrade enhance the currant setup . Replacing the boiler was all and was trying to understand the system using the 4 way mixing . The system has been working fine for many yrs from what I was told. He has 2 systems being replaced and want cost effective job.

They are not as common as they were in the pre mod con low temperature heydays of the 90’s

The beauty of them was they could provide ideal mixing and boiler return protection in one valve, ODR was another feature
