Mitsubishi e1 error code

We have a customer that has a Mitsubishi ductless split indoor model# msz-ge15na. The wireless controller is the MCCH1. The one that looks identical to the Honeywell T6000. The controller is displaying an E1 code. From what I can make out this is a wall controller memory issue that most likely the wireless controller is bad. If that is the case does anyone know if switching the unit to the emergency setting will allow the unit to operate in the interim? The job is 40 miles to the closet supply house and I wanted to take a replacement controller with me. Thanks to all in advanced
