Hi, I'm a steam virgin, in Baltimore helping my friend get his 1930 2 pipe steam heating system working. Most of the trane steam traps seem original Trane B1 removable bellows and integral seat so we are replacing all 15 of the cage units , we have done 6 and its difficult because the traps are stuffed underneath the convectors and its extremely difficult removing the covers. Some of the vents aren't working and have been covered up with drywall. We have a venting issue so thats an adventure. We also have a trane 210 direct return trap and I was planning on taking it apart and checking its operation and cleaning it. I'm not sure exactly whats inside of it, I suspect some sort of float and valve mechanism. Does anyone have any information or photos and or advice regarding this project.
