This is on a Hydrotherm boiler that sooted up and destroyed the mica window. Is mica still available?

Don't know. I suppose you could use a piece of sheet metal in it's place pop rivit it to a spring loaded hinge or put it on with sheet metal screws0

Haven't seen mica in a while.... Not that I'm proud of it, but I have been known to use a 1900 electrical box blank cover in a pinch.0

Those box covers are quite handy. Their good for shimming boilers. Or on an electrical panel when the knockout comes out......you know, the one you didn't want to remove, screw the box cover to the panel and make a new knockout in the box cover.0
