I want to thank all the pertinent contributors to this post: Must I make costly replacement of ONIX with PEX? from last year. https://forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/167844/must-i-make-costly-replacement-of-onix-with-pex. I have a customer with similar problems that caused a cast iron boiler to leak within 20 years! I posted a video in 2015 with noise issues. Eventually the noise stopped on its own. We just replaced the boiler with an aluminum MOD/CON and are trying to prevent future component failure. This discussion was spot on. I want to thank @Jim100Flower for being so persistent in resolving the problem. Also thanks to @kcopp , @hot_rod , @archibald tuttle and @Eastman for all your input and help to Jim100Flower. All the information needed to explain the problem to my customer and proposing preventative measures was already here in one thread. THANK YOU...THANK YOU ... THANK YOU :)

@EdTheHeaterMan I am glad the thread was helpful. I can't tell you how happy I am that what appeared to be a hugely costly problem was solved for small money. Kudos to @kcopp , @hot_rod , @archibald tuttle and @Eastman for their level-headed guidance. Also, thanks to Rhomar water testing lab. I've gotten lots of help from Heating Help. Thanks!
