Has any used a magnetic boiler filter? Do they work? Is there any benefit to putting on in a system with a mod con boiler and cast iron radiators?

With modcon boiler starting to be more popular they are much more sensitive to water quality.

One of the main consideration is electronic, smart circulator pumps. They have permanent magnet type motors and that fine magnetite particle tends to find it's way into them and can lock them up.

Magnetite has been lurking in systems forever, but the new style circulators tend to attract in and cause problems.

If you have or will have an electronic circulator it would be a wise addition.

In large quantities it can certainly sludge up boilers and radiant tube.

You find it more often in non-barrier tube systems.
