I have a Honeywell Ra832A aquastat that will open up when I tap it. It will then circulate water for about a day until I tap it again. As you can tell by this post don't know much about this, any ideas.

#1. This is not an aquastat.
#2. The control is probably getting stuck intermittently or the electrical contacts on the relay are pitted and not making a good electrical connection. The percussion of tapping then moves the relay clapper or contacts to a position of better electrical contact to complete the circuit
#3 They are inexpensive enough to just replace it
#4 If you are not comfortable with electrical control wiring and the safe practices needed to properly replace the control, then call a professional plumber or heating contractor to do the work.Edward Young
