Aquastat question

Member Posts: 12
New aquastat installed a few days ago, originally set the high temp to 160 and all seemed fine, last night it seemed to run for 3-4 minutes every 5 minutes or so but shut off at 140 degrees. Raising the high temp limit makes cycles longer but still falls 20 degrees short of limit while still calling for heat. Question is this: Are these Honeywelll L8148A 1017s super accurate as far as temperature controls?

Depends on if the sensing bulb was properly installed, deep enough and making good contact in the well (did the installer use well grease).
Could also be the outside of the well (in the boiler) is completely scaled up affecting heat transfer.
If you needed a new aquastat you should've had them (they should've recommended) a HydroStat 3250+. Many new features plus low water cut-off if you change the well. There was an error rendering this rich post.

If your sensing bulb was having problem sensing you would get a override . Your control seems to be out of calibration or your temperature gauge is off ...

Just read the specs for it. It has a fixed differential of 8 degrees. Which seems like it could short cycle any boiler with such a small swing in temp when it's calling.0
