Soft start for boiler motor

Can I use a soft start control on a 1hp oil fired boiler motor? During power shut down emergencies, I want to use an inverter to power the boiler.

    How big is this burner that it has a 1 hp motor? Standard are 1/8, or 1/7.
    What other controls need to be powered at the same time?
    Maybe a PSC motor or a bigger inverter.
