Geo retrofit installation

This is a Geostar (rebranded WaterFurnace) 4 ton retrofit heating system for a house that only had wood heat and electric baseboards so we did underfloor radiant on the main floor using Viega Climate Trak and Jaga Strada radiators everywhere else. Groundloop is a vertical closed loop and the drillers ran into problems so we ended up with 3 irregular length boreholes: 360, 300 and 100ft. Used a Caleffi geo manifold with adjustable flow meters to compensate for the differing lengths.

It *can* go up to about 130F but it’s really hard on compressors doing that for extended periods, also your COP takes a nose dive the higher you have to ‘lift’ the temp so it’s best to run them on outdoor reset. This one is being controlled by an HBX ECO-0550. If you mean the DHW though it’s on a 125F setpoint but only heats the domestic tank if the compressor happens to be running for heating duty.
