Another common sighting in old Chicago boiler rooms and I finally got my paws on one. Has anyone else seen these? Outside of the Chicago area?

I could probably spend a couple hours staring at the chains and pulleys trying to figure it out but I’d rather ask. Has anyone ever had to adjust the fire using one of these?

Anyone ever see a manual on them?
