Can I pair any WiFi thermostat with any radiant floor heating system? How to choose?

We are in the midst of installing a radiant floor heating system. We are still choosing the brand - e.g., Schluter-DITRA, Laticrete, WarmTiles, etc. Each brand has it's vendor-specific thermostat, some WiFi, some not.
Does it matter how I pair them? As long as there is a temperature sensor for the floor, can I pair it with a programmable thermostat that uses the temp sensor?
Can anyone recommend good combinations? I want to make sure I can use various home automation systems for the floor - e.g., SmartThings.
Thanks for your help.

I usually use all Tekmar. But it could depend on how the t'stats communicate with the other controls.
For example, with Tekmar, I can use an 'away' setting at any thermostat which will set all the thermostats to away.
For the most part, in a properly designed system, radiant thermostats should basically be a high limit. And most should be set it and forget it after it's dialed in.
You really shouldn't have wifi thermostats for the radiant where your constantly adjusting and setting back, due to their slow recovery nature of the mass in a radiant floor.

Edit: Didn't realize OP was talking about electric mats, not hydronic radiant.

There was an error rendering this rich post.
