Heat Pump water heaters.

We are considering a heat pump water heater for a high efficiency demonstration SEED building. The problem is, it will be in a small mechanical closet in a super insulated enclosure. I won't have any air circulation and don't think I will have enough heat to transfer to the water. There has to be a product out there that has a remote unit so I can pump heat in from the outside through refrigeration pipes. Is anyone aware of such a product?

Hi, Sanden makes a split unit: https://www.sandenwaterheater.com/ Also, you might be able to use Rheem's ducted unit: http://cdn.globalimageserver.com/FetchDocument.aspx?ID=673cb60e-0940-4d67-a487-948dfcb3db8c

Sanden unit is very interesting. Would rather it piped refrigerant between the units instead of water (making for a longer distance between units & freeze proof).Larry Weingarten said:Hi, Sanden makes a split unit: https://www.sandenwaterheater.com/ Also, you might be able to use Rheem's ducted unit: http://cdn.globalimageserver.com/FetchDocument.aspx?ID=673cb60e-0940-4d67-a487-948dfcb3db8c

Ideally, the "Head" would be installed in the attic where temperatures are more conducive to a heat pump.0 -
Bradford white makes a ducting kit for drawing outside air for applications like this.0
