Confusion Wiring new Zone Valve

Hello, I just replaced a zone valve. I am not sure if the motor was bad or the gears, but it wasn't working. I bought the exact same model (Honeywell 8000 series) and fitted it on without issues. However, there was no way to tell the difference between the two yellow and two red wires from the unit, so when I disconnected the old valve wires and replaced with the new ones I attached one of the Y where the old Y was and so-on and so-forth with the others, but I have no idea which yellow and which red went where. The unit seems to function fine now, but I am concerned if I wired it wrong I could be doing damage and not be aware of it.
Thanks so much, Nick
