Another steamer bites the dust

This is from a private Facebook from my hometown. A member, pro photog, likes posting old buildings, most abandoned or about to be torn down. This one, however, is being saved. An old apartment building just off downtown. Alas, the steam system isn't as lucky as the building.

Pretty much a locomotive boiler. That old coal cart is quite the sight. Wow.

  • Think of emptying the ashes-is there a cart for that?

Not a cart- that's the hopper you shoveled coal into. The stoker then fed it to the firebox as needed.

Let me guess- heat pumps going in?
