peerless WBV 3 boiler Can it be shut off in summer if no use.

in Oil Heating
My parents who live in this house travel for long periods to visit grandchildren, Can they shut the boiler off wiithout damaging the boiler when they are not in usually for a month or longer at a time in summer, the oil service tech told them not ti shut the boiler as it will damage it, is this true, what are your suggestion

As long as it doesn't leak when it's cold. I assume they use it for domestic hot water too?
The only drawback is it may take a good half hour to get hot water for a shower when they turn it back on.
If it were me, I'd make sure they have a low water cut-off.
When no heat is needed, I routinely turn my boiler off when I go on vacation.
