Hot water heating element replacement

I'm having trouble getting my lower heating element to thread back in my hot water tank any help please

    The threads may be plugged with sediment from removal?
    A fitting cleaning brush. or stiff toothbrush is a way to clean them out.

    Make sure the element isn't too long :)
