That near boiler piping needs to be addressed, boiler was never skimmed, looks like the wet return which actually isn’t a wet return indeed a dry return and doesn’t meat the specifications of Dimension A. Dimension A is the measurement distance from the lowest carry steam pipe to the boiler water line. Which in your case is that dry return and could be causing some of the steam hammering.
Plus all that piping needs to be insulated and not being insulated could be causing the steam hammering.0
