From OESP:
OESP's Dave Nelsen Scholarship Program was established in 1999 to provide scholarships to students interested in pursuing their careers in the energy-service industry.
Since 1999, more than $300,000 in awards have been presented. To be considered a candidate, applicants are required to write a 500-word essay telling the committee about themselves, including their background that has prepared them for the success in their chosen field of study. Each year we receive hundreds of applications that are reviewed by our dedicated scholarship committee.
Applicants, please click here for eligibility requirements and to download an application. The deadline to apply for a scholarship is Thursday, March 14, 2019.
And a personal side note about Dave Nelsen:
Dave Nelsen was one of my dad's friends who was taken from us all too soon. Here's what @DanHolohan has said about him: "Dave Nelsen and I used to spend a lot of time in the basements of Long Island’s Gold Coast. Dave worked for Kurz Oil, and they specialized in those Great Gatsby-type homes. Dave and I learned together by being ridiculously curious, poking around a lot, and, when all else failed, by looking things up in old books. Dave got meningitis one day and pretended it was just a cold. He kept going to work (which tells you what sort of guy he was), and then one day he just died. He was very young and I wish we had just one more old house to mess around in. I miss him and I’ll bet you would have liked him a lot."
Dave was instrumental in the growth of education programs throughout the industry, so this scholarship program was created in his honor.
