I have been told that if the thermocouple is cherry red , that it is not good and that it will not last for long, is this true?. I just installed a brand new Q340a thermocouple in to a Q314 pilot burner with its factory settings. The thermocouple is burning cherry red so I turned the pilot adjusting screw all the way clockwise and it does not get any smaller. does that mean that there is a problem with the gas valve? or is the cherry red ok since that is the factory default setting? and does the cherry red lessen the life of the thermocouple?
