or the float rotted thru and won't rise,
or the air vent is fouled shut,
what is the symptom?

new symptom ?
is there a control valve for coil?
failed gate valve?

Just opening the drip cap/dirt leg will give you an idea of what is downstream.
We just checked about 30 legs of this vintage and had to pound a pipe up into them to clear. Have a bucket handy.
With the 2 unions you could just take the entire assembly down and probably need to replace everything.0 -
Would you replace everything on this?0

Yes, every 50-60 years.
I would add swing 90's after the exit union.
This would give slope to the new wye strainer
Add a 90 on the strainer blow down port and install a valve with cap on it.
Install a F&T with the 6 bolt cover, (easy change/repair in the future) One that has the 4 ports on the body.
Inlet on one in the top and a G-2 air vent on the other inlet.
Outlet on the bottom with the other having a test port to check for steam.
Assure slope on the dry return leaving the F&T, might require swing 90's again.
The gate valve, your call, just be sure it operates and is fully open.
