M&M 47 LWCO cartridge defective?

Change out a cartridge last fall, CTRD-101. Old was dripping and gunked up.
3/4" Hex port valves, black cartridge.
This year noticed the water fill valve overfilling after blow down. After several openings and closing it would seal tight.
The new cartridge will rattle when shaken, poppet is loose inside.
The old cartridge seems to have a spring loaded poppet.
Which should it do. Expensive and far away for replacement.

No fix that I know of except replacement. If you valve it off only close the water inlet to the #47. I have had them not work if you close inlet and outlet water gets trapped in between and sometimes will not allow the float to work.
Could you use a solenoid valve temporally and wire it to the 47-2 to operate it?0 -
Thanks Ed,
The question is which one is "good". Rattle or not?
The rattler one is working at the moment.
I can eventually get a replacement.
The price for this thing is outrageous, but yes a major liability issue and M&M has the only game in town.
Correction FWIW, the 47 has 1/2" piping.0 -
Haven't bought one in a while but yes the price is awful. They price their parts so high it's seems they just want you to buy complete new controls0
