Can a heat pump replace an indirect oil-fired hot water heater?

We have an indirect oil-fired hot water heater that needs to be replaced. Can a heat pump replace an indirect oil-fired hot water heater? I’ve been told it will also dehumidify our basement.

It will COOL and dehumidify your basement and most basements are cold enough as it is. They need heat & humidity to really do the job but with electric elements backing up the compressor in a cold basement they probably will do OK. Probably won't recover after a heavy use like your indirect did.
