Steam boiler piping

I am beginning to think there is not a single steam boiler in DC that is piped properly.

Header sloped away from equalizer. Risers wrong. Take-off between risers. Running at 8psi.

Burner tubes are completely supported by bricks in the rear because the sections leak every year and it has completely rusted out the burner support.

    Welded header with no swing joints....and they can't figure out why it leaks every year? Hard to imagine....

    Here’s the heat timer that controls the system. The night/Day dial stopped working, so they installed that other timer in the grey box below it.

    The night/Day dial physically switches the night/day lever which tells the heat timer which thermostat (warm weather shut down) to use.

    That dial stopped turning, so they installed the timer in the grey box and wired the power coming in to the heat timer to it. So it shuts the entire heat timer down instead of just switching thermostats.

    They asked me why it gets cold in the building at night...
