Every year that I come here they complain about constant water hammer all heating season, but when I make suggestions they don’t want to do anything.

can't see enough in the picture to see what's going on. Is the 2" dropping into the tee a dry return? Or a vent?0

Someone master trapped the return.
That’s the return on the floor. That trap on the return drops a couple feet on the left and ties into it.Never stop learning.0 -
That is a sure sign of serious knuckleheading. Wonder what else they screwed up?All Steamed Up, Inc.

I don’t even want to know. It’s a co-op in NW. Their heat timer took a dump one winter and I replaced it in the middle of the night. They told me about all the terrible water hammer keeping everyone awake all winter. This was right around the time I started learning about steam systems. I suggested coming back to go over the system. Never heard from them again or went back until today, which was to test a backflow preventer. And then I noticed the master trap.Never stop learning.0
