New burner gasket on KHN; smell & a little light smoke

Hey folks, I put on a new burner gasket during annual maintenance because the old one ripped. I reassembled the unit and I have a burning smell and I noticed a little smoke wafting from the fan unit after I shut it down. The gasket I used was a new OEM gasket though it was thicker than the one I replaced. Otherwise, the unit runs great, better than ever.
Does this sound normal after a [burner] gasket replacement?

DIY'er ... ripped out a perfectly good forced-air furnace and replaced it with hot water & radiators.
