Hello all. Enjoying this powerful resource. After reading Dans book i realize my heating systems need attention. I have severe water hammer and a cold radiator on the second floor. These are the currents vents installed and would like to start there. Looking for suitable replacements. Thanks in advance!!

A Gorton 1 is good for about 10 feet of 2 inch pipe, so you will need some more main venting.
Post some pictures of your boiler and its piping for more advice.—NBC

Better pictures would help a lot but it looks like your returns are tied together above the boiler water line. That will cause water hammer.
Main venting needs to be sized based on the diameter and length of the mains and the amount of air you need to expel. Gorton #1's are small, unless your mains are short. You really can't over vent a main. I like the Barnes and Jones Big Mouth, available from Amazon. Gorton #2's are good also but the Big Mouth has twice the venting capacity of the Gorton #2 at the same price.
