I am on the 2nd floor. I have Hoffman 40s and Gorton 4 , 5 , 6s The hoffmans close but the Gortons keep hissing. Most are new and I checked all. so they are all in good condition. The pressure in the boiler is set at .5 on the pressurtrol.

whats the question?
"The bitter taste of a poor install lasts far longer than the JOY of the lowest price"0 -
Is that the way its supposed to be. I thought all the vents close at a certain point. The only ones that are closing are the very small Hoffman 40s does something have to modified0

The gortons are good vents but they have the tendency to hiss/spit as the pressure creeps up to the cut out. Part of it has to do with how the float comes up to close the vent. Gortons close at a lower temperature than the hoffmans. Also the hoffmans close with a positive click. These vents tend to be quiet until they close.
I like ventrite vents #1 and #11 the old dole 1a for a little more venting capacity.0
